Forsvik lies at the Göta Canal. There is today a maritime knowledge center and museum. The canals oldest and deepest single lock is here in Forsvik. It is a place with a long history.It was built in the mid-1600s with iron works, machine shop, mechanical pulpmill and steam sawmill. Today there is a large industrial museum with partly restored railway. At the shipyard in Forsvik the historically unique steam powered paddle steamer Eric Nordevall II is build and is a replica of the paddle steamer, that sank out on lake Vättern in 1856.
In the summer are lots of activities, local cafés, restaurants and shops.
