Bölskullen, with its landscape shaped by the ice sheet, rises 26 meters above the surrounding flat areas. It is considered to be a so-called marginal plateau, deposited in the former Baltic Ice Lake.

In the lower parts of the nature conservation area there are other deltas that were built up when the Baltic Ice Lake was drained. In the southern parts of the nature conservation area, there are flat delta surfaces broken by dead ice sinks. Further north, there are more irregular shapes.

Pine forest and mixed pine forest are most common in the area. Interesting features of the vegetation are Gotland saw, moss and red bladderwort.

Just northwest of the tarn Tärnet is the so-called crust pine, whose bark is extremely heavily developed and cracked.
